JOB TITLE: General Labor/Assembly

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt-Full Time

SUMMARY

The General Labor position is responsible for assembling product, operating machinery and using hand tools to manufacture parts that meet required specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Safely operating drill presses, cutoff saws, punch presses, and other equipment as assigned to process product according to specifications
  • Uses hand tools to process product according to specifications.
  • Communicates frequently with team regarding concerns, discrepancies and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Follows safe work practices at all times.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent, 1 year practical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven skills required in the areas of work prioritization/organization, professionalism, time management, interpersonal interaction, communications and the ability to follow through to task/project closure.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general documents such as work instructions, correspondence, or procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions from groups or managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to accurately read a tape measure.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
