JOB TITLE: Shipping Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Shipping Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

This position coordinates daily shipments from the IRSG facility by calculating freight quotes, preparing shipping labels, and coordinating pick-ups with freight carriers. It also is responsible to pick and pack items designated as non-production and preparing for shipping. It maintains all shipping documentation in an organized manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and prepares all pick and pack orders for shipment on a daily basis.  Ensures correct items, quantities and on-time shipment.
  • Coordinates all shipments from the Itasca facility by preparing shipping documents; ensuring proper packaging and carton counts; calculating freight class; determining proper routing and complying with IRSG and customer routing guidelines.
  • Maintains shipping files and product databases in order to allow for efficient processing of repeat product shipments and supports investigations of freight bill discrepancies, lost shipments and freight claims.
  • Keeps the shipping desk, pick and pack racks and shipping dock clean and organized.
  • Provides freight quotes and plans for large rollouts as requested.
  • Develops and maintains an extensive knowledge of IRSG products, packaging procedures and warehouse layout.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School degree or equivalent and 0-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. 
  • Excellent skills required in the areas of work prioritization/organization, professionalism, time management, interpersonal interaction, communications and the ability to follow through to task/project closure. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions from groups or managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. 
  • Thorough understanding of measurement and spatial concepts required.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Ability to Multi-task with excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills.

While performing the duties of this job, while normally in a warehouse setting, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
